SUMMARY:Freeze Wild: Custom Native Plant Inspired Ice Creams - July 2023
DESCRIPTION:California Botanic Garden (CalBG) has partnered with Bert & Rocky’s Cream Company in Claremont to create three unique frozen desserts that incorporate the flavors of California native plants grown and harvested at CalBG. Freeze Wild programming will feature an in-person tasting debut during CalBG’s Flower Hour: Freeze Wild event (sold out)\, plus a take-home selection of pints available for order and pick-up in early August. \nFreeze Wild will feature three delicious\, custom frozen dessert flavors:\n● Chocolate Orange Bay Ice Cream: Rich chocolate and tangy orange infused with a hint of\nearthy\, spicy\, and a little provocative California Bay Laurel.\n● Bluecurls ‘n Cream: Light\, creamy honey with soothing notes of pine and lavender from the\nflowers of an iconic and fragrant California shrub\, the Woolly Bluecurls.\n● Elderflower Lemon Sorbet: Floral notes from the delicate blooms of the Blue Elderberry pair\ndelightfully with bright lemon to create this refreshing dairy-free dessert. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFreeze Wild: Take Home Boxes will include one pint of each frozen dessert flavor\, recipe cards\, and an invitation to an online panel discussion about the featured plants. Take-home kit participants will choose a pick-up time on August 5th or 6th upon ordering. At the virtual event on August 6th from 3 – 4 pm\, experts will share the ecological importance of each featured plant species\, its medicinal and culinary uses\, and how you can include these plants in your home garden.
