California Botanic Garden bursts into bloom in April and we’re celebrating with a month of events dedicated to California’s gorgeous native wildflowers. The party kicks off on Saturday, April 1st with the Garden of Verses Poetry Festival during the day and a Flower Hour happy hour in the evening. Wander the flower-laded paths discovering nature-themed poetry readings and interactive poetry activities throughout the Garden during the Poetry Festival from 11 am to 4 pm (free with Garden admission), and then join us from 5 to 7 pm for our Flower Hour featuring a native-plant inspired cocktail from Evolve Distilling, appetizers from Saca’s Mediterranean Cuisine, music from local band ShamaMamahS, and poetry readings featuring poems by former winners of Claremont Graduate University’s prestigious Tufts Poetry Prize (ticketed event, 21+, advance ticket sales only).

The rest of the month of April will feature events including a wildflower planting and care gardening class, an Earth Day nature drawing class, wildflower tours, and a lecture on the botany of wildflowers featuring CalBG’s Director of Conservation Programs, Dr. Naomi Fraga. Tickets and information for Wildflower Month events will become available over the next two weeks at https://www.calbg.org/events-programs/events.
